Page 6 - Myths and Legends
One of the interesting exhibits that I do not recall seeing it's equal in any museum was the Myths and Legends exhibit.  It illustrated some of the unproven claims that have been described over the years.  It was very creative.  I only wished my understanding of German was better to have got more out of it at the time.  With that in mind, I frequently take photos of the plaque and translate when I get home.  (To see the site I use for translation see link below.)

The first image here is a Morning Star Mouse.  It uses the 4 legs on it's nose to elevate his hind quarters.  It then uses his tail to pull down fruit for food.  As with any automated translator, I did not quite get the rest.  If you know German and can explain the rest, feel free to use the contact form you can reach by clicking the Comments and Complaints link at the very bottom of the page.

Morgenstern-Nasobem: Nasobema lyricum

The next critter is reminiscent of the old Jack-o-Lope myth.  It is quite a rendition!

The cyclops and unicorn are pretty well known to most people.  It was neat to see them in their 'natural environment'.

Finally, what would any such exhibit be worth without an exhaustive mention of the many reports of Dragons and Serpents throughout the ages. They seem so fantastic that they are hard to believe, but what if there was something alive during the ages of Knights and Nobles that created the idea.  The thing that makes me wonder is the idea appears in many cultures from different eras in history.  No apparent connections to share information from one part of the world to another, but the descriptions were so close, so similar!  Kind of makes you think, eh?
