Mickey Mouse Haircut on the Mickey Mouse ship

It has been almost two years since we were last on a Disney Cruise Line ship and almost three since we were on the Magic. At that time we cruised across the Atlantic to Barcelona and the Canary Islands.
Getting ready to cross the Atlantic I discovered my usual short haircut was getting a bit long so I went to the Vista Spa & Salon on the ship and had my head shaved by Rene, a high energy gal from Australia that I enjoyed very much! She told me about a project she did where she shaved guys heads and put in bar codes in the hair, I think. Any way, as our conversation continued we regretted not planning sooner to leave a Mickey Mouse silhouette on the back of my head.

| After discussing it and deciding a template would be the way to go so THIS time, before the trip I went to the Disney web site and downloaded one of their desktop images. Using Corel Draw I traced the silhouette to get the shape right and make a sample of what I envisioned.
Once on the ship on Saturday I returned to the salon and presented my idea. Alex seemed a little intimidated by the prospect of the project so I went back today. After talking to Alex and Eileen (his supervisor) they decided to call Jeanine. To my surprise she was an energetic blond gal from South Africa. She was a bit unsure but I told her that if it does not work we will just shave it off like I normally wear my hair. At that she was ready, willing and able!
With the help of another staff member she held the template in place and shaved the hair all the way around. Normally they will do this is straight lines but there is obviously nothing straight about Mickey’s head. Once the shape was in place she finished up with a bit more outlining and it was great. Others came to see how it was going from time to time and it was a fun time for all. As seen here the cut went well! It was as great, even better than I had hoped. Jeanine, you were perfect!!
We will be here for the next one week cruise and we agreed that I should come back while we are in port to touch it up next week. GET THIS, she cut that Mickey head WHILE the ship was rocking back and forth in the Atlantic side of the lower Bahamas. Good going!
